In this workshop, we will cover the process of melting, pouring and milling metal into usable material for a wearable wedding band. Starting with granulated metal from the refinery, or with existing jewelry provided by the students, we will explore a technique that has been in use for thousands of years. Forge Your Own Forever provides a unique opportunity to experience a comprehensive transformation of material through some of the most foundational processes in metalsmithing.
Processing the raw material is just the beginning. Over the course of 5-6 hours we’ll cover the whole process through forming, soldering, texturing, and finishing. Participants can choose from our designs like the Classic Band, Bessemer Ring, Thompson Ring or Lodge Ring - or work with the instructor to design a slightly more customized and original final band.
Tuition includes a free consultation leading up to booking, six hours of instruction, access to our historical Strip District workshop, and a little bubbly to celebrate the occasion! Class is priced per couple.
Gold material is sold separately and is priced on a case by case basis dependent on size, width, karat, and gold color. In most cases, we can work with heirloom or existing gold that is clearly karat stamped, but we do require an in person consultation with the material ahead of booking to weigh & examine for quality. In the event that we need additional gold, that can be purchased on an as needed basis.
